Dover as the Apostolics of Canton youth group will
join us for our night of fun!

Saturday Aug. 27th 1-6pm. We'll have free food, a jump
house for the kids, corn toss tournaments as well as other
games. It's going to be a fun day and great weather!!

Standing on the promises of God!

When God makes a promise, He keeps it!!! We have
officially moved in to our new building! The new
location of the church is 375 E. Ohio Ave.
(Schneiders Crossing) Dover Oh. 44622.
We also have a new name! Dover Apostolic
Church!! Soon we will have a new logo
and new business cards! We've been painting,
cleaning, moving, mowing weeding...

Every Wednesday for the last 10 weeks I've had the
privilege of teaching a Bible Study at the Dover
Middle School. I've been teaching 6th, 7th and 8th
grade during their lunch period. The first week there
was a combined number of 27 kids. Since then
we've had as many as 52 kids!

Today was another great Bible Study at Dover Middle
School.
Vasya Tomev from Kiev Ukraine was with me today.
We shared the story of miraculous healing that took
place in his life when he was a 9 year old boy living in
Ukraine. James 5:14 says- is any sick among you?
let him call for the elders of the church; and let them
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of
the Lord:

Vasya had a cancerous tumor in his stomach and
the Dr.'s said he would not live past 3 weeks. God
had a different plan for Vasya. He is now 25 years
old and studying to attain his minister's license.
Thank God for his miraculous healing power!!

On Sat. June 4th @ 4 pm, we'll be having
a bon fire at Pastor Joe Perry's house for
all the Bible Study students and their friends
to celebrate the beginning of Summer
vacation!!

You failures are not final!! Many people in the Bible
have failed and some of them big time! Adam and
Eve for instance, the rest of us are still paying for
their mistakes. King David- who had an affair with
a woman, got her pregnant and then had her husband
killed. Abraham, Samson, King Solomon and Peter,
even though they miserably failed God, he didn't fail
them and he did not give up on them!

It's so good to know that even though we make
mistakes in life our failures are not final and God
will not give up on us!!

Is it really March already?

Wow it is March already and we're only 9 days away
from Spring!! We're having a great year, now we're
gearing up for our Easter Program on April 24th.

The teens will be doing a skit called "The Most
Important Thing About Easter". The Sunday School
kids will be starring in 2 short videos that will be part
of the skit. The kids will also be making a small craft
to give to everyone who comes that day.

For the whole month of April we will have a Special
guest with us: Rev. Sasha Tomyev from Kiev Ukraine.
He will be working in different areas of the church,
teaching Sunday School, Adult Class, and Teen
Class. We will hear his testimony and learn about
his country.

May:
Annual Princess Tea Party on the 14th at noon.
Men and Boys Pig out on the 28th
Ladies Craft Day on the 28th as well

The New Year

The best way to begin the New Year: a time of fasting and
prayer. As the Pastor's wife of the Dover Link Apostolic
Church I can say that our goal and desire is to reach out to
those in our city, county and beyond who are lost, hurting,
lonely and needy. Our number one goal is to lead people to
truth and help them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.
I emphasize truth and relationship because without truth
you won't know who God really is or what you need to do
to be saved. You must stay in relationship with Jesus
because this is the only way you can stay saved. How do
I get a relationship with God you may ask?

Read the Bible, pray, fellowship with God's people, hear
the preached word, and place yourself under the guidance
and direction of a man of God, a Pastor, who can lead &
guide you in your relationship with Christ.

As the Pastor and Pastor's wife of the Dover Link Apostolic
Church we have weathered a few storms in life and marriage.
If not for the relationship we had and have with Jesus we
would not be where we are today; healing and peace in our
home and marriage. We still face the facts of LIFE just as
everyone else does but we do not face it alone. God is there
strengthening us all the way.
Our desire is to bring that opportunity to every family
in the city of Dover and beyond...

TRUTH+RELATIONSHIP= HEALING & PEACE
& most of all SALVATION!!!!

So why make the sacrifice of fasting and prayer for 21
days?

This is another way to draw closer in our relationship with
Christ so that we can hear his voice in our own life but also
hear his voice so we can help those who are lost, hurting,
lonely and needy. We realize that we can not fix people's
problems but we can lead them to the one who has the
answers for lifes most difficult challenges- JESUS!

Every member of the Dover Link has a purpose in the
kingdom of God. Through the relationship we each
cultivate with God he leads us and shows us what job he
has for us to do in his kingdom.

Pastoring the Dover Link Apostolic church is not a
career or a job to us it is a calling. A calling from God
to serve him and to serve his people. To connect people
to Jesus and help them find their place in the body of
Christ!!!

Everyone one is welcome to join us in our endeavor to
reach the lost, hurting, lonely, and needy in our city and
beyond.

How do you join us? Come to church, get involved in a
Bible study and get a relationship with Jesus so he can
speak to you and help you find your position in his body,
then, you can reach someone for the kingdom of God
and help to bring, healing, peace and salvation to them!!

An excitng week

It was an eventful and exciting week at the Dover Link!
It began with our Church Christmas party on Thursday
evening. There was good food and fun games! There
were many prizes given out and it was a fun time for
everyone!

Saturday evening we had our married's outing in
Cambridge. We enjoyed a nice dinner at Theo's
followed by a huge slice of pie for less than $2.oo!
Then we went on a horse drawn carriage ride through
the town and watched a light show at the courthouse.
We saw a live nativity and had free hot chocolate and
cookies. It was a cold evening but well worth it!
Great job to the Wilsons in leading and planning our
marrieds outings!

Sunday morning was our Christmas service and what
a great service it was!! The kids did and excellent job!
It was so exciting to see so many new faces. We set
a new attendance record for the Dover Link Apostolic
Church! The theme of the message given by Pastor
Perry was "The Real Christmas Tree". There was
a beautiful presence of God, carols were sung, joyful
tears were shed and lives were touched! That's what
it's all about! We also enjoyed a time of fellowship and
refreshments after the service. Thank you ladies for
bringing some goodies to share with everyone! Terrie
did and great job in setting up the tables and arranging
snack! Everything was delicious!!

We are looking forward to our New Years Eve service
On Dec. 31st at 8pm!

Guest Speaker
Justin Smith who came on Oct. 24th did a great job.
He challenged us with the question:
Lovest thou me more than these? This was a question
Jesus asked Peter before his ascenson but still applies
to us today. He made the statement: love is not valid
until action is applied to it. This is so true in our walk
with God. Scripture says; faith without works is dead.
I can say I have faith but until I put action behind it...
as the the saying goes; all talk no action! So if Jesus
were to ask you; do you love me more than these things
in your everyday life, your job, your hobbies, etc. what
would be your reply? Most of us would say we love
God but do our actions show it? Are you ready to put
some action behind your words?!

Harvest Party tonight!!! It's gonna be so fun! I
gave all the info for this party on the previous post

Bring a snack, we will provide all the fixins for
haystacks, chili and drinks!

Barbie & Ken Wedding
Oct. 29th at 6 pm at the Dover Link. Girls are
to come dressed for a wedding! We will learn about
modesty and purity at an age appropriate level.
There will be refreshments after the wedding!
This is for girls age, 7-10.

Guest Speaker
This Sunday we will have a guest speaker. Justin
Smith from the Link Apostolic Church in Canton
will be with us. Justin is a young man passionate
for God, a student at Purpose Institute Bible College
studying for his ministers license. He has traveled to
Japan and Germany with Bishop Ellis in the last 2
years. We're excited to hear the word of the Lord
from this young man of God.

Vani Marshall's Testimony

This woman was born into a Hindu Priest family and when

she was born she was dedicated to Hindu Gods. She learned

to worship over 2,000 Gods. At 19 or 20 years old she was

decipled under a witch... but praise God she found Jesus!

What a powerful testimony!

we just went to last weekend!

Picnic

The picnic was a success! It was very chilly in the
morning but it turned out to be such a nice day for
a picnic in the park. We enjoyed a wonderful time
of worship and an encouraging message from
Pastor Perry. As always there was plenty of good
food and lots of cake! It was Pastor Perry's B-day
the day before the picnic so a cake was in order!

This coming Thursday, September 23rd will be
our Family night. Family night is when we
meet in a home and eat and visit, sometimes we
play a game or two. This time our family night
will be held at the Wilson's house at 7pm. It will
be a nice time:) Usually each family is asked to
bring a snack but the Wilsons said they would
provide all the food for this gathering!

Annual Outdoor Service!

The Dover Link Apostolic Church has been doing out door
Church services once a year at the Dover Park for about
5 years now. It is a wondeful time of worship, hearing the
word and fellowship all in the great outdoors at Dover's
beautiful park at Deis hill amphitheatre.

As usual we will have a pic-nic following our service at
the pavilion above the pond (by the public pool). If, for
some reason we are not able to secure that pavillion for
our pic-nic (that pavillion is first come first serve) we
will be at the pavilion above the amphitheatre.
All are welcome to join us for free food and to meet some
new friends.

Fellowship Night

On Thursday Aug. 26th we had fellowship night at the
Irons' house. It was a fun relaxing evening! We had
plenty of food as always and a great time of fellowship
around the kitchen table and around the campfire!

Our next Fellowship night will be on Thursday September
23rd at the Wilson's house. We'll be having a cook out
and a fun time of fellowship once again!!

Vacation Bible School was a blast!! Kids and adults
had so much fun and we're all looking forward to
next year!!

Freedom VBS

Last night was the first night of Vacation Bible School!
It was a blast! We played lots of games, sang some fun
songs and traveled in a time machine to 1776.... well we
were supposed to travel in a time machine but we had
a little problem and we accidentally brought 1776 to us!

Patrick Henry from 1776, "Give me liberty or give me
death"! We brought him here, to 2010! Fortunately we
were able to send him back so he could continue to
lead the people in fighting for freedom!

On the spiritual side we learned that the devil tries to
bind us up in sin. We can't free ourselves from sin.
The only way to get free from sin is the blood of Jesus.
The blood he shed on the cross for our sins! So Jesus
did his part, in dying on the cross and shedding his
blood. But we have a part in this too. We are respon-
sible to take action in applying his blood to our sins.
Later this week the kids will learn what they must
do to apply that blood!

Tonight for VBS we will travel back in time to a
land in Bible times and we're going to meet a king!
It's going to be great fun!!

Freedom is the theme. Kids will take a ride in
a time machine to visit the past and the future
and even accidentally bring someone from the
past to 2010! We'll be learning a little about
American History as well as how we can have
FREEDOM in Christ!

Our prayers were answered... no rain on Saturday!!
It was a hot day but just a little sprinkle so it was
perfect for our open house!

The next event we have coming up is our fellowship
night on Thursday June 24th at Pastor Joe &
Angela Perry's house.

On June 25th & 26th the men and boys camp out!
The plans are not official yet but they are considering
going to Hocking Hills for some hiking, camping and
fishing.

We're getting ready for our Open House here this Sat.
June 12th, 12:30-2:30 in the Dover Link Apostolic
Church parking lot on Walnut Street. We'll be doing a
corn toss tournament with a prize for the winnig team
and we'll be serving a free lunch to all who join us; hot
dogs, chips, juice and dessert!

Memorial Weekend

Downtown Dover was a busy place this weekend with the

Dover Canal Festival going on and the Memorial Day parade

on Saturday. The families of the Dover Link enjoyed thier

time on this extra long weekend! Some of us went camping,

some of us went swimming of fishing, four wheeling, we had

weenie roasts to go to and cookouts.

Saturday was the Men and Boy's Pig Out! With shooting, fishing,

camping and eating going on an beautiful weather it was fun for

all who went!

Sunday Morning we had a wonderful time in the Lord, we sang

a new song "Worshiping you" check it out!

Website, Pentecost Sunday and other things

Wow what a weekend it was! On Saturday the
Apostolic Ministry Team gathered in Salem Oh.
for an Apostolic Ministry training session taught
by Pastor Rollie Schwendeman. What an awesome
time of teaching it was.... followed by some good food!

Pentecost Sunday was a good time. Bro. Ralph
Dixon taught on the Feast of Pentecost in adult
Sunday School. Pastor Perry preached about
having your own personal pentecost.
On Sunday evening Pastor Perry preached in
Salem and the Dover Link Apostolic praise team
led worship. It was a wonderful time spent with
our brothers and sisters at Grace Pentecostal Church!

Men and Boys Pig Out!!

The Men and Boys Pig Out is coming up this weekend!
Saturday May 29th, 10:00 am at the Baltic Gun Club.
There is also the option of camping out Friday night.
It's going to be a fun time for all who attend!
Guns, fishing, football and lots of food!

Pentecost Sunday

Sunday May 23rd is Pentecost Sunday. This should
be quite a day of remembrance for all Christians. This
is the day the 1st century church was born.

On Sunday May 23rd 2010 the Dover Link will be
celebrating the ancient Jewish holiday; the Feast of
Pentecost. Over 4,000 years ago this feast, or holiday
was established with Moses by God. Then 2,000 years
later this holiday also became the birth of the New
Testament church. As we celebrate this feast day
or holiday on May 23rd we will also learn more about
Pentecost and what it means to the modern day
christian.

On May 22nd the Link network Apostilic Ministry
Team will come together to help the Salem
congregation pray for and reach out to their city by
going door to door and inviting anyone who wants
to come and enjoy a free meal at the Salem apostolic
church. The AMT's will also be helping them
advertise for their Pentecost Sunday celebration.

Princess Tea Party

The Princess Tea Party was a success! We had soup and salad
for lunch and learned some tea drinking ettiquette. The girls
made a crown craft, had a princess class, played games and
got prizes. It was a lot of fun!

There were mother daughter pictures taken and for those of
you who signed up for pictures to be e-mailed we'll be sending
those within the next couple of weeks.

We had a great time and are looking forward to many more
years of Princess Tea parties!

Another Sunday at the Dover Link Apostolic Church and
what a great Sunday it was! Pastor Perry taught on "The
Power of the Tongue" for the second week and will be
teaching on the same subject next week. It's been a good
series. The Bible says that life and death are in the power
of the tongue. We can bring hurt or we can bring healing
to ourselvs and others depending on what we say. We
learned that the all familiar childhood saying is really
very far from the truth; sticks and stones may break my
bones but words will never hurt me. In fact words usually
scar and wound us worse than physical wounds.

We also learned that according to the Bible we can actually
speak a curse into our own life or the life of someone else
but we also, by the power of the name of Jesus can break
a curse in our own life or someone else's life.

Spring is here and Easter has passed already! We had a great
Easter Service. The kids did a great job on the Easter drama
and singing! Afterward they enjoyed their candy and games.

We are now getting ready for the Princess tea Party coming up
on April 24th. There will be games and prizes, food and fun.

is a $5.oo registration fee per person..... or per princess :)

During the princess tea the men will be having a golf outing.

We have some new things on our blog spot for you to
check out. We have new pictures, new dates and Dover
weather. We're hoping before spring to have a website.

At the Dover Link on Monday January 25th we will be
having a class teaching us how to make our money go
further by using coupons and shopping with sale adds.
In this tough economy we can all use some money saving
tips! Who knows maybe this will be the first of many
classes to come! What a great way to start off a new year,
learning how to save!

We had a great time at our New Years Eve Service. We
enjoyed a time of worship and good preaching by Pastor
Perry, then we had some good food, fellowship and games.
Some of the guys played Risk until 3:30 am. Shawn was
the winner of that game!

Tomorrow a few of us from the Dover Link will be enjoying
the snow as we go sled riding on Deis Hill and probably end
it with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate or coffee. Hopefully
we'll have some good pictures of our sled riding adventure
that we can post on here!

The Dixons and The Metz Family

Can you believe it is November 2009 already and
Thanksgiving is just a little over a week away!
This year has been so eventful and it has flown
by! We only have 37 days till Christmas!
We've had some changes here at the Dover Link
in this last year. We've added a pre-teen/teen
class, toddler class and leadership class. At some
point in 2010 we want to begin holding Sunday
evening services.
Currently we have 5 home Bible studies going
with the possibility of adding a couple more!

We've added some new members to our praise
team as well! Welcome Kelly you are doing a
great job! We also welcome Caroline, Zach, and
Joseph who are helping us out with specials.
We're looking forward to them joining us
permanently!

Off to teach one of those bible studies- will write
more very soon!

Bike Trip

Pastor Joe and Angela went on a little bike trip on
Tuesday July 28th! We went with the Fisk family
and it was the perfect day for biking! We started
out at Ft. Laurens in Bolivar and ended in Zoar
where we stopped to have lunch at the Zoar Tavern
Inn. Good food and great service. We had the best
waiter ever! Chris did a good job! Then we hopped
back on our bikes and took a little tour of the old town
of Zoar and then headed back to Ft. Laurens. All
together it was 8 miles. Such a fun family outing! Can't
wait to do it again!

Evangelism

We had an awesome week with Ken Cook, an evangelist from Texas!

He helped us get out into the community and meet new people and we were able to let the cities of Dover & New Phila. know that we exist! It seems that we've been hidden for these last 2 years because we've been so focused on remodeling the inside of the church, but finally all our hard work has paid off and we have a beautiful sanctuary, offices, and Sunday school rooms!

On Sunday July 5th, we had a church picnic at the Dover Park. It was a beautiful day for a picnic! We had lots of good food, Corn Hole, fishing, baseball, and meeting new people!

Amongst all of the setting up for the picnic, I had to find time to get ready for a 5-day stay at church camp at Buckey Lake in Newark, Ohio... Jr High camp for 12-14 year olds! It was a blast, and it seemed like I was gone for a month! It was a nice getaway, but I did miss my hubby!

It looks like the next big event on the agenda is the North American Youth Congress in Aug.! That will be a blast... three days in Nashville, TN.!

Then we have a joint church picnic --- six churches will join together to have one big picnic. Food, games, and fun!

Kids Night In Africa

The kids had fun in Africa tonight!
They learned a new song in one of the African dialects.
They ate some African food --- sausages wrapped in dough... mmmmm good! Then we ended the night with quite a random game: a race to see who can drink the water out of their bowl the quickest! Ellis won in the first group and Micha won in the second group! The trick behind it though is you have to drink it like a dog... no hands, no straws!! It was quite funny!

We had quite a celebration for our Dover Link Church Dedication Service! It was very emotional for those of us at the Dover Link because it was time to finally celebrate all of our hard work for the last 2 years! Our Sanctuary turned out more beautiful than we had imagined!

We say thanks to everyone from The Link who helped us with getting everything ready for the service. We had a crew setting up the sound equipment that was brought from The Link Church. We also had quite a cleaning crew and many that helped move chairs and tables.
Thanks to everyone for all you did!

The youth service we had on April 17th went well! I blogged about it already a few blogs back so I'll spare repeating the details but.... I wanted to post a few pictures from the service.

The Link Church did a good job in leading the worship service. This is a picture of Sasha. He is very talented and most importantly anointed! Thanks to him for a job well done in leading the worship team and hauling all that equipment from Canton to Dover!

Sunday April 26th

We had a wonderful service on Sunday morning!
Nicole Foster was with us and blessed us with her beautiful voice! She sang a song by Natalie Grant, "In Better Hands Now". As she sang, God was really speaking to my heart... "there is hope when my faith runs out... I am strong because of you... I am changed... yesterday is gone... I am safe from this moment on... it's like the sun is shining when the rain is pouring down... it's like the breath of Jesus is right here in this room... so take this heart of mine... there's no doubt I'm in better hands now!"
Thank you Jesus for strengthening my heart!

The Cruz family was with us as well --- very good friends of ours. They laboured in Dover with us for over a year, maybe even two years, when we first started the Dover Link. Now they pastor The Solid Rock Church in Alliance. His message was inspiring and encouraging. Once again, God stepped in just when we needed a push to press on in the work of the kingdom and used his servant to speak into our spirits!

Hebrews 10:23 – Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.
We need to declare or confess our faith and hold on to God’s promises for He is faithful!

The word was Joseph’s dream of his brothers bowing to him. This word tried Joseph. His dream would not let him go! In the still of the night, he couldn't forget his dream. He held onto it until it was fulfilled. Through slavery, prison, promotion, etc. he held onto this word until he saw the fulfillment of it.

When God gives you a promise, you and you alone are responsible for it. God sets you as ‘mother’ over your ‘baby’. You are the one that God will wake in the middle of the night for a midnight feeding. You are the one that has to tend to and protect for the health and well-being of the promise. You have to nurture the promise to see it grow.

Well, I jumped ahead of myself on the youth service!
In my previous blog post, I talked about the youth service like it was last Friday! Anyway... it's tonight, Friday the 17th.
We are expecting God to do great things tonight!
We passed out 700 fliers for this youth service.
We're expecting!!!!

The Easter Drama went great! The kids did a great job with very few mistakes. Terrie did the refreshments. We ate after the Easter Service and they were so so good --- Amish bread and a variety of muffins! Kelly made magnets to pass out to each visitor. Pastor preached a very moving message titled "The Reward Of His Suffering."
We had our first service with a live drummer on Easter... acoustic drums! Very loud, but it went well! [much thanks to Mike for offering to sell his beautiful acoustic drums so that we can have electric drums soon!]

Saturday we have a work day at the Solid Rock Church in Alliance . It will be a fun day!

Youth Service

We have a lot to look forward to as the end of this week draws closer!

On Thursday, we have our Easter Drama practice as well as friendship group for the adults. This week at drama practice we will be trying on some costumes and possibly using the spot light! Of course, we'll go over the brand new songs we've written that the kids seem to really like... and that reminds me that we need to talk to someone from The Link youth to see if we can borrow the fog machine! It would be great effects to have some fog pumping out from behind the tomb when the angel appears!

So then on Friday night, we have a youth service at the Link Church. It's looking like the Dover Link will be bringing a few young people!

Then Saturday morning, we have an Apostolic Ministry Training Class - aka AMT Class. It is an awesome class, but it sure comes early! Honestly I can't remember if we have to be there at 7 or 7:30 am?!

God is doing mighty things and we sure are gearing up for revival! We believe that a revival of the moving of God in the hearts of men is on the horizon and we are so excited and looking forward to what God is doing!

We are getting excited about the Easter Drama coming up in April!
We've picked our cast members - aka the whole Sunday school class,which consists of about 14 kids. We are currently working on the costumes and props and hope to have them finished by the first week of April.

Some exciting news is that we will be having evangelists Ken and Julie Cook with us in June! They specialize in teaching on street evanglism.
We will be going door to door and just meeting people in our community. We are really looking forward to the time we will spend with them. They will be with us for one week. They will also be visiting other churches in the Link network, so we will also be a part of some of the services they will speak at in Canton.
We are expecting miraculous things to happen!

Once Easter is over, we have a couple things to do for the Mother/Daughter banquet at the Link Church in Canton, and then we will get ready for the Princess Tea Party!

Lots of exciting things coming up this Spring and Summer!

Anyone have any good ideas for activities at the princess tea party? If so, feel free to leave a comment!

We had a wonderful service on Sunday morning with Rev. Scott Grant from Montreal, Canada!
I did remember to take my camera to church so that I could take some pictures of the service! The message and everything that happened, however, were just so moving to me personally that I completely forgot to take any pictures! My cousin was there taking pictures, so I'll have to find out if I can get them from her and then post them here!

Metro Missionary

The Dover Link Church will be holding it's first Missionary
Service on Sun. Feb 22nd; Metro Missionary Scott Grant
from Montreal, Canada will be preaching on Sunday morning.

My goal is to take some pictures of the service and post a
couple on here. As long as I remember my camera, I should
be able to make that happen!

On Fri., Rhianna and I did some sewing for our Easter Drama.
We're not quite half-way there, but next Friday we'll be sewing
again, and Maribridgett will be here to help too!

The next item of focus for the Dover Link will be the "Princess
Tea Party!" I need some ideas for a theme.......I've looked around
on the web a bit, but nothing is striking me yet, so the search is
on. If anyone has any ideas feel free to comment!

So let me explain these slideshow pics. The first pic is of a tree
in my front yard that was covered with ice during the ice storm
we had a month ago. A few of the pics are baptisms- we had 4
people get baptized in Dec. and Jan. Congrats to Terrie, Henry,
Ysrael, and Daulton! The pics of a guy with a mouse trap on his
nose ears etc. is Bruce Borlik- A.K.A Clem!

Bruce and Jamie Borlik are children's evangelists from Indiana.
They were in the area by the request of Pastor Nichols From
Ritman OH. who is a good friend of ours. Pastor Nichols sent
them here to the Dover Link to spend an evening with us. We
had a great time and the kids loved the puppet show and the
"Clem" show! They did an awesome job and we are so grateful
that they could come. It was a special treat to be able to spend
some time with them after the show!

Some of the other pics. are from our Christmas and New Year's
Eve celebrations.

I can't believe Easter is right around the corner! It's coming so
soon!

Yes, this summer sure was busy, but what a pleasant surprise to have 2 weddings instead of just one! Summer 2009 shouldn't be quite as busy as last year, but we do have some exciting things
coming up for the spring and summer! We are planning an Easter play, Princess Tea Party, Carnival, a few picnics in the park and maybe, just maybe, Vacation Bible School. We really do want to find some ways that we can get involved in our community. Most importantly, we want to be a help to our community.

Dover is a great place to live! We hear many good things about our schools, and we have a lot of community activities. In the spring, summer, and fall, we have several parades and carnivals.
I've recently heard about a new addition to the community, some type of free healthcare for those that have a job but don't have ins. and don't make enough to pay for their healthcare costs. I don't know any of the details yet... I will write more about it as I get more info; I do know that it takes place at St. Joe's in Dover every Wednesday. And let's not forget about the Tuscarawas
County Fair grounds right here in Dover! We also have Warthers Carvings and the Reeves Mansion! The Dover Park is one of my favorite in particular; I love the walking paths and the Frisbee golf, and the pond is beautiful with 2 fountains that light up at night! At the
top of the park is Deis hill which has the best sled riding hill I've ever been too. It's a lot of fun!

Angela and I are working on the kid's Easter play and
getting ready to go to Rittman to get training on working
with kids - we are so excited! We have lots of kids! :-)

We had a nice holiday! The Christmas play went well,
and we had a nice New Year's Eve service. And what an
awesome week of prayer and fasting we had! We had
some powerful prayer meetings this week. God spoke
to us and gave us some clear direction for this coming
year and some fresh understanding on how to pray
against our enemy.

Spiritual warfare is a real thing. There is more to this
life than just what we see with our eyes. There are
other dimensions and realms beyond what we physically
see. In those other dimensions dwell angels, good and bad.
The only way we can affect what goes on in those other
dimensions is through sin or through prayer and fasting.
There is so much to be said on this subject, and it is very
fascinating!

Thur., we will be having a puppet show for the kids.
Bro. and Sis. Borlik are coming, compliments of Bro.
and Sis. Nichols! I know it will be a great time!
On Sun., we will have our first baptism at the Dover Link
Church. Once again, compliments of Bro. and Sis. Nichols;
they gave us their old baptistry tank! Daulton will
be getting baptized on Sun. am., and the following week, we
will baptize Henry! That is awesome!

The great Smoky Mountains

Well, we sure had a wonderful vacation in the Smoky
Mountains in September! I'll blog more about it later,
but I wanted to finally post a picture of a guy we met
while we were there. His name is Aden. He was a hiker
who let us take his picture. He had already been hiking
for quite some time. If I remember correctly, he was
going to be hiking for about 3 months! Sheesh, that's a
long time! I believe he started out in Virginia and was
going to finish up in Georgia. Aden, if you see this post
send us an e-mail to let us know how your hike went---
maybe sometime you could hike through Ohio and visit us!

On Friday, October 6th at 6:30 pm, you're invited to a consecration service hosted by the Dover Link church. We will have a bonfire, food, and probably blankets!

Basically, to consecrate something you are dedicating to God.
At the consecration, we will sing a few songs and talk a little bit about some things that we can dedicate to God.
This is the perfect time to dedicate your life to God or maybe dedicate a part of your life that you have never dedicated to God before.

The cool thing about consecration is that it can take place anytime of the day or night, in private or in the open. It just takes you communicating with God and deciding to commit something to him.

Avalanche Ranch Vacation Bible School was a success!
We averaged about 19 kids per night, and we had a blast!

The kids learned the story of Rahab and how God parted
the Jordan river for the children of Israel to cross.
They marched around the "walls of Jericho" and
learned how the obedience of the children of Israel brought
the Jericho city walls tumbling down!
On Friday night, they learned of the death burial and
resurection of Jesus Christ. It was awesome to lead the
kids in repentance and in giving their hearts to Jesus.

On Sunday, we had a hoedown! We performed all the songs
and motions we learned that week at VBS, and some of the
parents were there in the audience as well!

It was a fun week, and we're looking forward to next year!

Thanks to everyone who was such a wonderful help! We
couldn't have done it without you!

Faster Pastor Race Summer 2008!

Ten pastors were lined up for this year’s faster pastor race.
New Cumberland United Methodist Church Pastor
Ted Knapp sped his way to victory in his third career
faster pastor race. Following him to the line were Steve
Stewart, Brian Flood, Joe Perry, and Don Knisely. Larry
Fletcher, Rod Phillips, Eric Cermeans, Dana Stoneking,
and Nathan Downs rounded out the top ten.

Everyone had fun and all were safe!

Vacation Bible School

Dover Link Church Vacation Bible School!
Wednesday, August 20-22 followed by the VBS finale on Sun. Aug. 24th.
We will have a normal Sunday am service; service begins at 10 am, followed by our Avalanche Ranch Hoedown! All parents and grandparents are invited to come see the kids sing songs they've learned at Avalanche Ranch as well as play some cowboy games and eat some cowboy food!

As you can see, our VBS preparations are well underway! It's gonna be a great time at Avalanche Ranch Vacation Bible School! The Dover Link Church will be turned into a cowboy ranch, where kids will take a wild ride through God's word!

Everyone is welcome to come join us for our "Cowboy Hoedown"
on the 24th!

Great news and VBS

Yahooo! The weddings are over! Now, moving on to Vacation Bible School!
We finally decided a date for our Avalanche Ranch VBS, Aug. 20th-22nd.
We're planning to have a big ol' cowboy cook out on Sunday afternoon to finish up our "wild ride through God's word". It's going to be a fun time teaching kids that "God is real" as we spend 3 days at Avalanche Ranch.

The Biggest news for now, however, had taken place on Tue., July 1st.
Pastor Perry and his wife (that would be me) had been teaching a bible study to 3 young men, ages 18-20. Every Tue., we go to their house in Sherrodsville and teach for about an hour; really, I just tag along and listen, but it has been so awesome to teach young people who are actually hungry for God and truly want to know more about him! After the 3rd bible study, the two of them, who had not been baptized in Jesus' name, decided they wanted to be baptized. Joe said "Awesome! When?" They said "Right now!" Joe said Ok, where?" They said 'Well, we know the perfect spot down at the lake"--- so off to Leesville Lake we went, packing towels. We prayed before they went into the water, and one of the guys was crying and said "I really feel God so much right now". So, into the water they went... Pastor Perry in his jeans and t-shirt.
He baptized Jimmy in the name of Jesus , and when he came out of the water, he lifted his hands and began to worship God. Just a few moments later, we all witnessed him being filled with the Holy Ghost as we heard him speaking in tongues!! It was completely awesome! We wouldn't have missed being a part of that for anything.
We are continuing with the bible study each week on Tue. What a privilege it is to teach God's word.

The day they were baptized, during the bible study, Pastor had taught them the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch found in Acts 8:27-39. Philip heard the Ethiopian reading from Esaias - he asked "Do you know what your are reading?" The Ethiopian responded "How can I understand unless someone explains it to me first?" So Philip began to preach to him about Jesus as they were riding along in the chariot. The Ethiopian's response to his preaching about Jesus was: "See, here is water, what doth hinder me to be baptized?" (Acts 8:36) As soon
as this truth of baptism was shown to him in the scripture, he wanted to be baptized!
That was the response we got from Jimmy on July 1st..."I want to be baptized --- now!"

Weddings and a little update

Machille and Tim's wedding was beautiful! The weather was perfect, and the only glitch was that Machille forgot her bouquet in the bridal suite, which was 15 min. from the church. She didn't realize her bouquet was missing til about 5 min. before the wedding was due to start. Needless to say, the wedding started about a half hour late. I'm sure the guests weren't happy to wait for so long, but everything else went fine. Machille and Tim both cried. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place. Everyone was so happy for them. I think we're all glad that it's over! No more Kanda wedding plans for anyone!

Now we focus on the Dixon wedding! The Dover Link has never had more than 40 people in it at one time. So, 130-140 people should be interesting and exciting! Saturday will end all the wedding plans for the summer. The next wedding I attend will be one that I have done no planning for! Thank you Tiffany and Justin, the next in line for Holy Matrimony! That will be in Aug.

As for the Dover Link - our plans are to pass out fliers for VBS in a few weeks and gear up for our picnic in the park coming up in Sept. We're also hoping to pass out some free turkeys this fall. We really want to focus on reaching out and helping the community now that our work on the building is about complete.

These are the busiest days of the whole summer I'm sure. I'm stuck between a wedding and a wedding! June 28th will settle it all, and then all of our schedules will be a little lighter! (lighter...not tighter!)

We still do not have carpet in the Pastor's study or the classrooms, but I don't think anyone is really noticing that at this point. We are taking a break for the summer, then we'll put some focus on finishing the details.

Hopefully we'll have VBS in Aug. We were shooting for July, but with all the busyness right now, that's about impossible.

So, I guess that's as much of an update as I can muster for now.

Politics?

I'm not the type to talk about politics. In fact, I usually avoid the subject. I will say that I am Republican and a very strong Republican at that. I believe that most Christians are as well. One of my biggest pet peeves is to hear someone bashing a political leader. The bible tells us to pray for our leaders, and that is exactly the request from President Clinton that you will hear in this slideshow. No matter what party we stand for, we need to pray for our leaders and not bash them. Discussing things we don't like or things we wish they would do may be ok, but straight-up bashing is not.
I want to explain a couple things so you will have a better understanding of the slideshow. The Dover Link Church is a United Pentecostal Church International or UPCI church. The UPCI is an Apostolic/Pentecostal organization that is, as the name says, an international organization. That means we have churches all over the world.
Not only is the Dover Link Church a UPCI church, but my husband, the Pastor of the Dover Link Church, is licensed with the UPCI. I explained all of that to say that at one of our UPCI churches in Asheville, N.C., while the Clinton's were campaigning, they stopped in for a church service, and it's quite interesting what he had to say about the UPCI and some of it's members.

The UPCI in known for very anointed and talented musicians and singers. President Clinton confirms that by the story he tells in this slideshow as well as how far reaching our efforts are and have been.

Carpet

Well, we finally have beautiful carpet in our church! What a sight for sore eyes! We've worked so hard for the last year and four months, and it's been so worth it. The carpet and linoleum was laid on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week. The free, donated pews (thanks to Bro. Cook and his congregation) were picked up in Columbus on Thursday. We had an army of men to help unload them from the truck on Thursday night. Much thanks goes out to The Link Church and Minerva Christian Life Center for helping us lug those heavy pews. There were thirteen 13-ft. long pews to unload! They look absolutely beautiful!
All the Home Interior decor we earned from the party we had in March was hung on Friday night. So in the run of a week, our church was transformed... and all just in time for the Princess Tea Party!

Wed: Carpet and linoleum was finished
Thur:Pews arrived
Fri: Home Interior was hung

The party went well. We had about 22 people all together. It was so much fun! My cousin made a big donation; she rented a limo for all of us to ride in. What more could we need to make us all feel like a true princess?!

The only things left to do at the church are mostly small. We need to finish painting in the Pastor's study so it will be ready for carpet, then we can move a bunch of stuff from our home office to the church--- that will be so very nice!
Once we have enough money saved, we will put carpet in the 3 classrooms and church office.

We're keeping busy getting ready for 2 Bridal showers in May and 2 weddings in June!

Then, hopefully, a vacation for us sometime this year! That would be great and much needed!

Isn't that how blogs go? The blog is new, so you blog blog blog! But after a few weeks, the newness wears off, and the blogging become less and less.

Well, we do have some busy months coming up here. April, May, and June will bring, 3 Weddings, 4 Bridal Showers, 1 Baby Shower, and a Princess Tea Party.

Currently, we are working to get things buttoned up for getting carpet. The carpet will be laid sometime next week. We are all so excited and looking forward to seeing the church finished!

We had a wonderful service yesterday. Sunday School was a lot of fun. We started our new unit in the Veggie Tales curriculum. We are now visiting the tropical location of Veggie Lagoon. It looks like a tropical island in our class room!

The service was great as well. We could feel the presence of God moving in, and people were refreshed in the Holy Ghost.

Ok, so it's been a long time since I've posted a thing! I just got out of the cave I was in for about 2 weeks! I had a sinus infection along with some other issues. I'm thankful to be feeling better but still have a bum arm. I guess I have bursitis. I thought that was something that old people get?!

Well, here's an update on the Home Interior Party:

With the orders and party bookings we received, we were able to order 2 planters with the greenery and flowers and 2 mirrors. We're waiting to get a couple other orders in to add to it, and Cindy (the Home Interior lady) said once Kay, (her assistant), figured out what greenery we need for the planters, she will let me know where we stand as far as how much more free stuff we can order. We also have 50% off on one item.
There is a beautiful table that I saw yesterday at Cindy's shop. I knew it would look just beautiful in our foyer, so we might be getting that! It's hostess only and has been discontinued, but Cindy said she would not sell it to anyone else and keep it for us if we want it. That's so nice of her to keep it back for us!
We won't be ordering anything for a little while now since we finally just ordered the carpet!!!
We ordered enough carpet for the platform and the sanctuary and should have it in 2 weeks!
We will also have the linoleum in the foyer! It's going to look beautiful!

We worked last night like we always do on Tue.
We had some extra help from Pete last night. He did the texture on the one wall in the Sunday School room, and Rhianna and I decorated the classroom for our Veggie Lagoon theme. Ralph and Pastor worked on getting the floor ready for carpet, and Machille painted trim in the Pastor's study. We still have one doorway to paint and need to finish trimming the sanctuary. Other than that, it's just small stuff. What a long year it's been. But totally worth it!

Busy Busy!

Yes, things have been quite busy lately! We did get a grant for the carpet from the United Pentecostal Home Missions Division. We will be ordering carpet sometime next week! It's possible that we could have carpet before Easter! That would be great! I put together a photo album, starting at the very beginning of our building project. Wow, what a difference! I'll have to post some before and after pictures sometime. It's amazing the difference between now and this time last year!

So, tomorrow will be the Home Interior Open House! This will be the first public event that we've hosted, so we're very excited about that. We're excited for people to come and see the building since it's finally starting to look nice! We still have a bit of painting to do on the trim and some finish work on the platform. But soon and very soon, we will be ready for that beautiful carpet!

Well, I've got some more pictures to sort through today as well as getting things ready for our open mic night at Renovare Cafe tonight!

Crazy weather and other stuff

Sure have had some wintry weather lately. I guess we will really appreciate the Spring when it gets here!

We were supposed to take our Sunday School kids to the Holy Ghost Rally/Kids Church in Barberton, but the roads were so icy, we figured it was too dangerous to travel that far away.
Some of the parents were worried about the kids being out with the weather like that. We hated to miss it, but we thought it's better to be safe than sorry.

We'll have to try and make it up to the kids on next kids' night.

We sure had a hectic week of traveling last week. Tuesday afternoon, we went to Michigan and came back home on Wednesday evening at about 9 pm. Then we were up bright and early Thursday morning to head back out on the road again. Hubby was off to a minister's conference in Connecticut while a friend and I headed out on a road trip to Tennessee. It was nice for me to see some friends and family last week.

Well, I'm headed off to begin my tasks for the day.

Let's be Millionaires

“You can have it all, so why not do whatever it takes to get it all?” That would be the society we live in today. The number one cause of divorce in America is finances…do you think maybe there’s a connection? This is a topic that has recently grabbed my attention and held it captive. It’s a touchy, hush-hush issue, but I’m passionate about this stuff called money, and I want to get the word out.

This isn’t about how much you make, but how you manage what you have. For a moment, think about what your life would be like without debt. Really stop, and ponder the thought of not having to send in a car payment every month. Not wondering what credit card you were going to switch to that has a lower introductory rate than the current card you carry. Not having the drudgery of working at a job you hate, to make sure you can pay all your bills, because everything that comes in goes right back out; getting sick is not even an option. Now think again about that ‘no debt’ life. Not the fact that it seems as if that could never be the case, but the fact that it is a real possibility. Smile. It feels good.

In the words of Bishop Ellis, “debt is killing the American church”. Or from my pastor, Shaun Eller, who recently planned to teach a leadership lesson on stewardship and finances, felt God told him the lesson was really about World Missions. Think about what we could give if we had no debt. When a missionary comes and gives a compelling presentation and your heart is ‘pricked’ and you’re ready to give, give, give--then you look at your checkbook. Well, this week we have the car payment…and the credit card is due… and with gas prices these days… The missionary over in some country you never heard of doesn’t seem as important as your daily life. Giving at this point is not even an option. So the missionary goes from this church to that, getting $20 here, and $20 there trying to get support to live in that country you never heard of. To let those people know there’s hope out there in a world that seems hopeless. Well, the same message is for you. There is a way out.

From the mind of Dave Ramsey, founder of Financial Peace and My Total Money Makeover, comes a detailed plan to get your finances in order. He has been a multi-millionaire twice in his life. Meaning he had millions, lost millions, and then with discipline got millions again. Millions.

That alone is something most don’t ever think is possible, or even right. How can you have all that money if the Bible says its sin. But, the Bible doesn’t say money is sin; it says the love of money is sin. Money is a must to evangelize the world, and even your city. We, as the church, need to be the ones that have it. Do you think the gospel will be spread because someone who doesn’t even go to church decides to fund your next evangelism effort? ‘Down in the dumps, I’m always broke’ days need to be gone. God wants to bless His church, so we can in turn do His work. For that to happen we need to show we can handle what we do have, so we can be trusted with more.

Here is the ‘life application’ portion. To start you’ll need to get a working money management plan, i.e., a budget. As John Maxwell said, ‘telling your money where to go, instead of wondering where it went.’ It will take a few months to get one that works, but once you do, you’ll feel like you got a raise. This is mandatory to get your house in order. A business could never be run by spending and sending off money whenever it was thought to be needed. You must have a plan. Beyond that, the following is 7 steps to a Total Money Makeover, with a brief description of each. This is discipline, and hard work, but you will get results!

1. $1,000 Emergency fund. Fast. Sell something, have a yard sale, get a second job. As soon as you determine to get things right, something will go wrong. This is to cover emergencies so you don’t reach for the credit card.
2. Debt Snowball. Cut up all credit cards. Determine NEVER to go into debt again. Take your lowest monthly payment (ignore interest rates), and put anything and everything extra on that debt. Once the first is paid off, put that payment, and all the extra, and add it to the second, then the third, etc. By the end you’re making some really big payments, and the debt goes very quickly. All debt except the house.
3. Fully-funded Emergency fund. 3-6 months of expenses in savings. (remember, by this step all debt except the house is gone.)
4. Invest 15% of household income in Roth IRA’s and pre-tax retirement
5. College funding.
6. Pay-off home early.
7. Build wealth. Give, Save, and Spend!

Just for some more fun stuff here’s what could be done once the debt is gone. If a 30 year old couple making $40,000/yr would start investing 15% of their income ($500/mo at 12% in a growth mutual fund through a Roth IRA) until the age of 70--remember you have no debt by this step except your house-- they will have $5,882,386.26 tax free. That’s $5.8 Million dollars tax free!!! You could pay yourself $480,000/yr giving yourself a 4% raise each year to cover inflation, and not touch the principle. That’s $40,000 a month!

So you just took an extensive European tour, and thought you would come home and visit with the great, great grandchildren, for whom you’ve jumpstarted a college fund. A missionary from a country you’ve never heard of comes, and you feel a prick in your heart because they need a mere $30,000 to build a school. You smile kindly and say “$30,000? Do you accept checks?”

Sunday morning sure was a cold one! I'll be glad for summer to get here! Hopefully this snow storm is the last of the season! But on a positive note, I think what I enjoy the most about winter is making a fire in the fireplace and sitting in front of it with a blanket. It's even more cozy when as your sitting in front of the fireplace,, you look outside and watch snowflakes falling! That's my favorite part of winter.

We didn't have very many kids or adults at church on Sun. I think the cold kept everyone inside! We had six kids so Sunday School was actually kind of quiet.

After church was over, we worked for a bit and had lunch together. We painted some more trim --- we are over halfway done and hope to order the carpet soon! Of course, we were hoping to have ordered it last month. We'll see!

Pastor Joe is teaching a series on Baptism for Sunday School at 10 am. He preached a message titled "Your Failures Are Not Final"

Some hightlights of the message:
The result of sin................is SHAME.
The result of shame is separation......with others & even God!

Adam and Eve hid themselves not because they were guilty, but because they were ashamed.

Shame can be brought upon a person in many ways:
Abuse
Rejection
Failure

Shame is often confused with guilt.
But guilt and shame are not the same.

Shame: the painful feeling of the loss of self-respect.
Shame is a grudge we have against ourselves.

Guilt: is FROM the sin or offense that is deserving of blame or punishment and rejects the act as wrong.
Shame: rejects the one who has committed the sin or offense.

Guilt says "I have done wrong, I have failed"
Shame says "I am wrong, I am a failure"

Shame makes you not like who you are.

We've scheduled a Home Interior Open House for March 1st. You can check the calendar section on this blog for details. The purpose for this Open House will be to earn money from Home Interior so that we can purchase a few items for the church. It will also be an opportunity for many to get a little tour of the church! I think it will be a fun day!

The Valentine Banquet was last night at the Link Church. It was a nice time of fellowship with friends. We ate good food, shared prayer requests, and handcrafted little prayer tags that had each lady's request on it. The banquet was over by 9:oo, but it seemed that no one wanted to leave. I think it was a nice time for the "girls" to get out of the house (moms getting out without their kids)!

There's a scripture I read the other day that I've really been mulling over in my mind.

Phil 4:19
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

According to His riches in glory! God made everything and owns it all! He'll supply our needs according to His riches? God's riches are limitless! What a thought! We really don't have to worry about whether or not God has the resources. If we've prayed and sought God on a certain issue in our lives, and He has not provided... maybe it isn't really something we "need" after all. Maybe we think we need it, but it's really just a want. Sometimes what we think we need isn't really what God knows we need... or maybe we do need, but not at the precise moment in time that we think we do. God's timing is just as important as His will!

God has all the goods, and we have to trust that He will give us what we need, when we need it! But that is contingent on us being obedient to His commandments.

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Prov 3:1-2 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. (from New International Version)

There are many benefits we get when we obey our Heavenly Father!

An update

It's been a bit since my last post, so here's a little up-date!

Had a nice service Sunday morning. The kids were well behaved, and God spoke to us powerfully through the preaching of the Word! Thanks to Kelly, we enjoyed some nice pound cake for a snack after service.
We had music practice following the service, then those of us who were at practice headed up to Canton for dinner with the Ellers. We had a delicious dinner with them and a nice time of fellowship. At 6pm we had a joint celebration service at the Link Church...and what a time of celebration it was, with congregations from, Alliance, Minerva, Salem, Canton and of course Dover!

Thursday I will set up and decorate for the Ladies Valentine Banquet which will be held at the Link Church in Canton. We will also be having kids' night Thursday along with a meeting about Renovare' Cafe'. Hopefully I'll get to work on the children's Bible study I've been putting together and maybe re-do the bulletin board at the Church! Whew! Got lots to do, but all fun stuff!

We did get a lot of trim painted tonight. We were hoping to have that finished already, but we have taken a few work days off and it's put us a little behind!

Baptism Continued

So the question we left off with was, "What is the one name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost?"

Let's think about this: We know that we don't serve 3 separate gods, because that would be idolatry. God always told His people that He is one: (Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD)
So the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not names of 3 separate gods; they are "titles" of different manifestations of God. An example of this would be: If my husband went to the bank to cash a check, and he signed the check as "Son", the bank would not cash the check. It would be a true statement to say that "he is a son", yet that is a mere title of what he is, it's not his NAME. If he were to sign his check as "brother" or "husband", they would still not cash his check. The words brother, husband, son are describing different things that he is.
Until he signs that check with his NAME, the bank will not cash it. The "authority" to cash the check is in his NAME.

Let's remember the scripture we read earlier: Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

So we see that the one NAME given to us is "Jesus". What is the name of the Father? Jesus. The name of the son? Jesus. The name of the Holy Ghost? Jesus. The only way our ransom for sin is paid is by the "authority of the name of Jesus" in baptism. What washes away our sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! That blood is not applied to our sin until we go down in the waters of baptism in Jesus name. Then the payment for sin has been paid in full; the check was signed with the NAME of God in blood.... Jesus (Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.)

Every christian believes that it is the blood of Jesus Christ that washes away our sin. That was His whole purpose for coming to earth. But how do we get that blood to wash away our sin? Is it by just believing in Jesus and telling Him we are sorry for our sin?
Let's see what Peter told the people on the day that the Church was born.
Acts 2:38 -And Peter replied, "Each one of you must turn from sin, return to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; then you also shall receive this gift, the Holy Spirit.

So this scripture tells us that we need to be baptized so that our sins can be forgiven. If it is the blood that washes our sin away ,then this must be what is required from us to get that blood applied to our sin. Look at this powerful scripture: 1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Then Baptism is what saves us? Yes! because that is when you apply that precious blood of Christ to your life! When we are baptized in the name of Jesus ,then our sins have been officially paid for in full by the "authority in the name" of God, which is Jesus!

Have you already been baptized, but not in the name of Jesus? It's okay to be baptized again in His name; I was re-baptized, and there is a biblical example of a re-baptism in Acts 19:1-5 (...When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Some other scriptural references of baptism in Jesus name: Acts 2:38, Acts 10:48, Acts 8:16
I encourage you to read these scriptures and the stories surrounding these people who were baptized in his name. If you have not been baptized in Jesus' name, I encourage you to embrace this truth! My life has been changed forever since I was baptized in Jesus' name 12 years ago. I've tried being baptized both ways, and the difference is proven in my life! I will never be the same!

Baptism

Last night we had another baptism! Congratulations to Brian, who was baptized at the Link Church in the name of Jesus! Brian is 18 and a senior at Dover High School. Antonio, who was baptized right before the 1st of the year, and Brian are both currently attending a Bible study being taught by Ralph Dixon.

A few posts ago, I said I would talk about truth a bit. There are some truths about baptism I would like discuss in the next few posts.

The majority of churches perform their baptisms by saying "I now baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"(or Holy Ghost). But more and more churches are beginning to practice the biblical way of baptism by saying "I now baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ." Some people may say: "Does it really matter what is said when you are baptized? ...Father, Son, Holy Ghost or Jesus? Does the name of Jesus have to be spoken when you are baptized?" Maybe this is something you've never heard of or thought of. But this goes along with the subject of truth that I said I would be discussing in the next few blogs.

It is very important that we believe and practice the truth. The bible tells us that if we continue to refuse the truth that God will eventually allow us to believe a lie... that he would even allow us to be deceived and that we would be lost for eternity (II Thessalonians 2: 10-12).

That is pretty serious. Truth matters!

When you have been raised to believe a certain way your whole life, it is hard sometimes to realize or admit that what you have been raised to believe or have always been taught could be wrong. But we must ask ourselves, is it worth being lost for eternity all because we rejected the truth because it didn't fit what we've always believed?

Nothing is worth being lost for eternity!
So let's examine this subject of the truth of baptism in Jesus' name.

Take a look at these scriptures that talk about the authority in the NAME of Jesus.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Phil 2:9
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

So we see here in Acts and Philippians that there is authority in the name of Jesus.

Now let's read Matt 28:19
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

If we are supposed to be baptized in the name of Jesus, then why did Jesus tell His disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost?
Let's examine it - This is the only scripture that exists in the bible that says to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Because Jesus Himself told His disciples to do it, it must be important, yet every example of a baptism that took place after Jesus had ascended into heaven was done "in the name of Jesus" (we will look at some of these examples later). So did Jesus' disciples disobey what He had told them to do by not saying "in the name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost?"

Let's pay attention to a particular word in Matt. 28:19. It says to baptize "in the name." Notice that it says the name, not the names. What does that mean? ONE name, not 2 or 3 different names. What is the one name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost?.......................

Tomorrow we will discuss more about Matt. 28:19 and the name of Jesus, and we will see through the scriptures how it connects with baptism.

We woke up Sunday morning to more snow, which is typical of a January day! I've always thought the snow was beautiful, but I admit I'm looking forward to some warmer days this week and especially looking forward to the warm days of summer!

We had a lot of kids in Sunday School yesterday! Usually, on a typical Sunday, we have from 6-8 kids. Yesterday, we had 12. It was a bit crazy but a lot of fun! It was nice to have Eric and Jazmin join us from the Link Church!

Typically, yesterday would have been a work day for us. From about 2 - 8 we work on whatever current project we have going in the church; sanding, painting, putting doors up, light fixtures, cleaning etc. We decided to take the day off. It was nice to have the evening open to chill!

We had a "guest speaker" yesterday morning - Ralph Dixon. He reminded us that we are the salt of the earth.

He talked about the fact that there are diets or fasts you can do where you eliminate all salt from your food. It doesn't take but one meal to show you how much salt is used to bring out the flavor in your food! Without salt, most food is tasteless and therefore not very appealing to eat. After several days of eating food with no salt, you suddenly grow a new love for it. When the diet or fast is over and you invite someone over for dinner, you may decide you want to just serve up a plate of salt!

The scripture in Matt 5:13 says:
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

As we serve in the Church, it is easy to get weary in well doing. We get caught up in the work of the church, teaching various classes, doing a building program, cleaning, music, youth, fundraisers... the list could go on. It becomes easy to get bogged down from the busyness, and we loose the joy in working for the Lord. As we serve the Lord in these different areas of the church, it should be viewed as worship to Him. But many times we loose that in the whirlwind of busyness, and then we loose our savor. If we have no savor, then we have no appeal to the lost world. Just like food without salt, no flavor - no appeal.

Our lives no longer reflect a saviour to a lost world, but it reflects someone who is bogged down and exhausted! (maybe even crabby and impatient).

As the salt of the earth, we get our savor from our Savior - Jesus Christ! But if we are weighed down so much from the tasks of the day that we have no time to spend with the Savior in a time of prayer and time in His word, then we will begin to loose our savor.

Stay close to the Savior and you won't loose your savor!

Rambling

Well, in the last post I made, it sounded like I set up the slide show...but I can't take the credit for that! It was actually Rhianna who did it. I spent hours setting up an account with flickr, scanning and loading pictures, and then trying to get the "show on the road". Just when I was about to give up, I took one last look on the blog... only to see a slide show with our pictures! It probably took her 20 min. to successfully complete all that (as compared to my literal hours for an unsuccessful slide show)! Good job RJ!

Well, today has been one of those dreary, cold days where all you want to do is cuddle up with a good book and a blanket and hibernate all day. And that's just what I got to do today! I'm reading a very, very good book by John Bevere called "Thus Saith The Lord?" It's not an entertaining book at all and not usually the kind I would read on a dreary day, because it would put me to sleep, but it's really caught my attention.

(Remember I did title this post rambling.) So............We'll be teaching a bible study here in a little bit, then off to the grocery store - fun-fun :)o

We had open mic night at Renovare' last night. Went pretty well. Took me a while to get the coffee pot figured out (plugging it in always helps!). And maybe next time we'll be able to figure out the cash register too! We had 3 different groups come in to perform other than ourselves.

So as not to bore you with my rambling. I'll end this post.

Ok, so after hours of trying to figure out how the whole slideshow thing works, downloading pictures, setting up a flickr account, etc., we finally have a slideshow!
I'm sure we'll be adding and changing, because we have a lot of pictures!

Ok, so we've made some changes here. Hopefully you all like it! I think by the end of the week, we''ll have a slideshow on here with a bunch of pictures! That will be fun!

A Tribute

I was thinking today about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and trying so hard to remember some things about him other than the fact that he had a dream. What was his dream, I thought? I knew it was for equality, but I just couldn't remember much about what Dr. King had to say beyond "I have a dream". So here are a few excerpts from his speech that day at the Washington Monument in Washington D.C.

Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Sanding

Of course we did some sanding, sanding, and more sanding last night. We're over half-way done with the sanding, and the pastor's study has lights and a ceiling fan!

As for the meeting at the Cafe', it went pretty well. They are trying to figure ways to raise money to keep the Cafe' running and yet do things that will benefit the kids.

We have a meeting tonight with the board members of Renovare' Cafe'. They've asked that someone from the Dover Link Church be there tonight and then asked if one of us could be on the board. I think that's a good thing since Renovare and Dover Link share the building, communication is a must!

Then we'll be working at the church tonight. Sanding, sanding, and more sanding!

Just takin' a break

Just takin' a break from the day's tasks and thought I would put a little of what we've been up to on here.

Yesterday, we got some carpet samples for the sanctuary. The carpet lady told us to take a few samples ---- a few?! How do we pick a few out of thousands of choices?! But we did narrow it down to 2 books and 3 sample boards. Sure would be nice to have a professional opinion, because it's so hard to imagine what it will really look like with the whole room carpeted when all you have is about a 5-inch sq. piece to look at! We did narrow it down to about 3 or 4 once we got it to the church! Now we will take back what we know we don't want and get more samples.

Tonight and Thursday night, we will begin sanding the trim and hopefully painting it! Once that is done, we are officially ready for carpet!

Soon, we will be doing some things in the foyer shared by the Dover Link and Renovare Cafe'. We have to clear all of our ideas through the Cafe' board, but I think they will be fine with us making it look better!

Here in the Perry household, we will be doing a little drywall work in our kitchen, hopefully next month, as well as putting a ceiling fan in the living room and family room. We're currently working on the "bottomless pit of papers" we call the office! All we're trying to do in there is get some organization (is that possible?). Yikes!!

God's love to us

We love him, because he first loved us.

So God loves us before we even know a thing about Him. And He loves us no matter how much we sin. So if God loves us while we are sinners and He loves us the same when we are saved - what's the difference? What makes a saved person different from a sinner in God's eyes?

I asked God this question one day. The answer I got back was simple, yet profound to me.
He said: "My people love me back."
When I was a sinner, I really didn't think too much about God or what He thought about the way I was living. There were times I thought about God, but on a daily basis, He was far from my mind.
Since I began the quest to have a relationship with God, He has changed my life so much. The part that I am the most thankful for is how He has taken my broken heart and mended it. I'll be the first to say that I'm far from perfect, but I sure am not the same person I was 12 years ago! I can now say that on a daily basis, I am not just God-conscious, but I talk to God every day, always asking God to guide me that I will do what is pleasing to Him. Why? Because I love Him and I want to show Him my love by doing what His word says to do.

The more we love Him, the more we obey Him. The more we obey Him, the more we are showing Him our love. When we do that, we start to get favor with Him, and that's when He starts to give us all of His good benefits!

Good Clutter?

Saturdays and Sundays are usually a bit crazy around the Perry house. Saturday is the day we prepare for Church on Sunday. The Pastor (my hubby) is always studying to prepare his sermon for Sunday, and the Sunday School teacher (that's me!) is preparing for the Sunday morning lesson.

This past Saturday wasn't too crazy since hubby didn't have to work. We were able to sleep in! But as the day wore on, I was tidying up a bit around the house and was frustrated because of the clutter laying around. It seemed that in every room I cleaned, there were books and papers everywhere!

Clutter laying around is a pet peeve of mine, so as I was picking up and putting things where they belong, I was grumbling (in my head) about the clutter. Then I realized that in every room among the "clutter", it wasn't just any old books and papers I was finding... it was Bibles and notes. Machille (our live-in girl) had a Bible or two laying around, and Joe (hubby) had a stack of notes and a couple Bibles from that morning's Bible study.

I felt like God took me on a little walk down memory lane at that point in my grumbling.

Memories of unhappy times.. when the Bible could barely be found in our home, and if it was found, it was covered in dust; dust of a struggling marriage, dust of bitterness because of things sewn into our lives from our own bad decisions in the past, dust of inner wounds from (me) growing up in a broken home...the list could go on. Sure, we went to Church a couple times a month back then, so we read our Bible along with the Sunday morning sermon. But we never really let the word of God rule in our lives. In between the times we read our Bible at church, you would find it laying on a shelf somewhere, never to be picked up until the next time we went to Church. Our sporadic Church attendance was just enough to soothe our conscience, but not enough to bring a change.

When we were taught a home Bible study by our Pastor, the word of God came to life for us! We saw and understood things in the word of God that changed our lives! God became real to us and was a part of us! Not just on an occasional Sunday morning at Church but in our home- everyday!

As we began to actually understand the Bible because of the home Bible study, we started getting a glimpse of God. When we realized that God really wants to be a part of our everyday lives and that He has many gifts and good things to give us every day, that made us want to read the Bible more and more and make God and His word the highlight of our lives!

When you take the great instruction manual of life (the Bible) and really begin to follow it, it's amazing what a difference it makes in your home, marriage, family...in your life!

So after that walk down memory lane...there will be no more grumbling from me about "clutter" laying around the house. So is any clutter good? Well if it's a Bible... I think so!

I encourage you to dive into the word of God and let it become your instruction manual. If you let it clutter your house, it will de-clutter your life!

Kids Night and Noah's Ark

Kids Night was wild last night! The kids were full of energy as always and not really listening all that well! They turned the Dover Link Church into a zoo! I think they had fun though, but I will definitely be implementing a different discipline system. I've got some good ideas ready to go into effect this Sunday! I think it's going to be fun! Maybe I should take some lion taming classes before Sunday! lol!

One thing that is making it so difficult is the age range. Normally, we have from ages 6-13 . Last night, to make the age gap even more extreme, we had some new kids; 4-yr-old twins and three ages 17-19. We had them all in a circle playing hacky sack for a while (which they all seemed to like), then we split them all up into age-appropriate groups. We ate some pizza and played some games - it was fun!

All this talk about the zoo and animals reminds me of Noah's Ark. I've done just a bit of research on the ark; the fact that it could still exist is of interest to me. Explorers are still trying to find the ark, and they believe it to be somewhere on Mount Ararat or the Mount Cudi range in the country of Turkey. It's interesting to me to read some of the evidence they've found on it's possible existence.

What credibility it would bring to the Bible if they were to find it!

The Turkish government, however, isn't fond of explorers running around on their mountains, so that kind of makes any possible expeditions impossible right now. They believe that if the ark has been encased in ice for all these years that it would be somewhat preserved.

I've been thinking about Noah and his family and how crazy it must have seemed to them to build such a huge boat on dry land! It's most commonly believed (although the Bible doesn't say for sure) that it took Noah as long as 100 years to build it! That's hard for us to imagine, being faithful for so many years... to build such a thing when most of won't even live that long!

But I guess if you're looking for a lesson in faithfulness and patience, we could learn a thing or two from Noah. I read something one time that was thought provoking. It said that "perhaps the hardest part for Noah was the last 7 days before the rain began".

From the time God told Noah to go on the ark to the time it took for it to rain was 7 days. So Noah took his family and all the animals and lived on that boat for 7 days before they ever saw one drop of rain. I'm sure people told them how stupid they were. Where was the evidence of what God had promised? Not that they necessarily wanted the whole earth to flood, but after spending all that time building a huge boat to save them from a flood, I think they were ready to see some evidence of a flood!
Their work was done, and now they were waiting on God to do His work. Sometimes when we're in Noah's shoes, we've done our part, we've been faithful, and now we're waiting on God to move. That last little bit of waiting can be the hardest of all. The Bible says in Gen. 7:16 that the LORD shut him in. So here he was... his work all done, shut in this boat day after day... with no evidence of a flood. Scriptures tell us (Gen. 2:6) that there was a mist that went up from the ground instead of rain. So possibly in Noah's time, all those years of building the ark and talk of rain, no one had ever heard of rain let alone ever see it rain before. Maybe the thought of water coming from the sky was weird to them?

God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him. So when we've done our part, we just have to be patient enough to wait on Him - and He will do his part!

Does it feel like it's harder than it's ever been? .....keep on waiting, the end is soon!

A Strong Foundation

As usual, we had a work day on Tue. Our friends Ron and Cherie joined us from Minerva and brought our friend Tammy from Bolivar. The girls cleaned the place up, while the guys cut and hammered away! The hand railing for the steps to the pastor's study is almost complete and soon we'll have lights in the study!

Here's my thought for the day! (I must warn though that my grammar and punctuation is terrible! So if you happen to read this before Cherie gets ahold of it, I apologize! I think I'll be getting a few lessons in grammar soon!)

When I first came to God 12 years ago, something I can definitely say that helped to build a strong foundation for me was that I studied the bible. A few years back, while reading, God helped me understand something.

2 Tim 2:15 says:
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Wow! I thought... that scripture doesn't say read to show thyself approved! It says study! I looked up the word "study", and it basically means "work hard or be diligent." There are many answers and treasures in life to be found in the Word of God, but we have to search for them. Reading the Bible on a daily basis is so important, but going beyond that to study the Word of God just gives us a deeper understanding of who God really is. He reveals Himself to us through the book He wrote!

So you might wonder, how do I study? First of all pray that God will give you a fresh understanding when you study- then pick a subject: faith for instance. If you have a study Bible, you can follow the "study trail" on faith. Look the word up in a Bible dictionary and look up a bunch of scriptures on faith. Get a Strong's Concordance. It's a huge book that looks like it would be worse than reading the encyclopedia! But it has all the Greek and Hebrew words from the original Bible text and it tells you the original meaning behind the words. Write down all the information that you gather: scriptures you've found on the subject, the meaning from the Bible dictionary, the meaning from the Concordance, or anything else you might find interesting.

I like to use the PC Study Bible and do all my studies on the computer. It's quick and easy that way. It has multiple Bible dictionaries, all kinds of references, and a Strong's Concordance. Many times as I study, God will speak to me and either direct me to other scriptures I hadn't thought of or help me to see how it applies to a situation in my life.

So I encourage you to try studying the Bible. I really believe that God will speak to you and you'll get to know Him in a new way!

Good news!

Got some good news! Dakota received the Holy Ghost on Sunday night!
Dakota is one of the young men who was baptized on Sat. Dec. 29th.

We had a celebration service Sunday night. It's something we'll be doing
the first Sunday of every month.
There were several churches there, Minerva, Dover, Alliance, Salem, and
the service was held at the Link Church in Canton. There was a powerful
move of the presence of God!
My cousin's little girl, Rachel who is 8, was baptized in Jesus name! She had
already received the Holy Ghost last year. Right after she was baptized
Dakota lifted his hands in the air and began to call out to God to touch him
and fill him with the Holy Ghost and of course as God does- he touched him
in a mighty way and filled him!

There is nothing greater in this life than to see salvation come into people's
lives!

How awesome! Congrats to Dakota- Just like Acts 2:38!

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, " Repent, and each of you be baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive
the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Once again I say: What a priveledge it is to be a part of the work of God!

We had two 19-year-old guys get baptized last Saturday in the name of Jesus! They said they've never felt anything like it and explained that they both felt so clean! The worship leader, Ralph, who baptized them, will be starting bible study with them on Monday! They are fired up and keep telling us that they are going to bring all their friends and fill the church up in 2008! We want to see souls changed for eternity! Awesome!

Soon the Pastor's study will be ready for carpet (hopefully at the end of next week!) Then once the trim is painted, every room will be ready for carpet!

Planning has begun for the "Princess Tea Party" comming up in April as well as the bridal shower for Machille that will be held at the end of May!

We've got lots to look forward to this year! Check out the calendar!!
